faith-enriching programs
For Young Children
Our Parish offers very unique programs for our children. We ask that the congregation and families take an active role in preparing for sacraments. Throughout the year families are encouraged to participate in 'Family Night' to come and celebrate different feasts throughout the year.
- Children's Catechism (The Atrium)
- Sacramental Preparation Classes (Reconciliation, First Communion & Confirmation)
- Children's Liturgy

For Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
The R.C.I.A. is a process, a journey of faith and spiritual development for adults desiring to become new members of the Roman Catholic Church and for those baptized members wishing to complete their initiation within the Church. This process is community based with its primary focus on the breaking open of the Word of God. Throughout the process, adults are encouraged to deepen their relationship to God, self, others and the cosmos. Those who choose to journey with us are instructed in the essentials of the faith.
This program begins in the late fall and ends at the Easter Vigil, where full participants may receive their Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion.
For the 2011-2012 year, we will meet on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM at the Parish Centre, begining October 13th. For other questions or inquiries, please contact Deacon Gilles Urquhart at gillesu@hotmail.com.
On-Going programs
Perpetual Adoration
In response to Jesus' loving plea to spend time with Him, Holy Cross Parish offers the faithful an opportunity to worship. As of November 30, 2008, we have inaugurated a Perpetual Adoration Chapel, open to people of all parishes. This is an opportunity for interested persons to sign up for a convenient time within the twenty four hours of a day to be with the Eucharistic Lord. He invites and assures you to "Come to me all who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest". Please visit our Perpetual Adoration page for more details.
Family Adoration Hour
Families are encouraged to participate together in worship, music and prayer in the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharist is the centre and summit of our faith. It is life-giving, spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. It is very nourishing, fulfilling and relaxing too! Nourishing the children with this life giving portion helps their faith-journey. The family that prays together, stays together! We meet each Friday at 7:00 PM in the church. Please e-mail Sr. Bibiana Ikwun, HHCJ, our Catechetics Co-ordinator for more information.
Bible Study
This bible study group is open to all men and women of any age, of our Parish. During each session, we study the Bible through meditation, reflection and discussion, to learn more about living the Good News of the Gospel in a person's daily life, and their faith journey. This group meets Mondays at 7:00 PM and breaks for summer holidays. This year's study is following the theme of "Theology of the Body, Part 2". Please contact Dawn at 237-9059 for specific dates.
Medjugorje Prayer Group
This devoted prayer group meets in the Church to pray the Rosary and listen to the heavenly messages given from Blessed Mother in Medjugorje, Croatia. Meeting times vary throughout the year. Check our bulletin regularly as we announce specific dates.
